What is Xi'an like?
Dating back several thousand years, Xi’an sits on a plain surrounded on three sides by mountains. The influence of history can be seen in everything from the formidable city wall to the Qing style architecture around the city. Living in Xi’an is an unmistakably Chinese experience with many western comforts available.
At the centre is the famous Bell Tower. Amazing in structure and beautifully lit up
at night. Also within the city are many other interesting sights to see, such as the
Muslim Quarter, with its ancient mosque, the Temple of the Eight Immortals, the
Tang Paradise Gardens, the Wild Goose Pagoda, and many others.
On your days off there’s always something to see and do. For the more adventurous there are overnight trips to nearby towns and villages to see rural and little-travelled China, as well as nearby famous mountains and, of course, the Terracotta Warriors!
Xi’an is a very affordable city to live in. A lower cost of living means that a teacher’s salary goes further every month, leaving them free to save, spend on travel, or even send money back home. But don’t take our word for it…Come and try it!
